Planet Drum - Bahía de Caráquez, Ecuador
What is the project
Planet Drum is a non-profit organization created in Ecuador in 1999. Participating in the project is an opportunity to learn Spanish, plant native trees for reforestation or collaborate with long-term ecological projects, in addition to experiencing Ecuadorian culture as a local resident .
What activities will you do
The volunteers of this opportunity offered by Planet Drum work in activities related to a reforestation and education project. Specific areas may include working in the greenhouse with planting, preparing compost, watering; implement “mini greenhouses” in strategically ed communities, to integrate the region's residents into the project; act on replanting in hillside areas; and promoting ecological education workshops for the local population.
To stay at Planet Drum's house you need to pay 100 USD per month.
What you get in return
The volunteers for this project are staying in a shared room in the hosts' house, facing the sea, and have access to the kitchen to make their own food. Other benefits are free laundry, bicycles available, surf and language classes and two free days a week. During the afternoon and on weekends, volunteers are free to explore the city of Bahía de Caráquez and visit beaches, mangroves and forests in the surrounding area.
